The Ultraflex M66 83413 is a 13 ft (3.96 m) Fast Connect mechanical steering cable designed for compatible mechanically steered outboard boats. It features stainless-steel cable output ends, direct tilt-tube attachment and a 228 mm (9") steering stroke. The M66 system provides straightforward installation and is also compatible with suitable SeaStar helms that use an SSC62-style cable connection.

Compatible Outboards

  • The M66 cable is not specific to one outboard make or model. Ultraflex states that the M66 attaches directly to the tilt tube on all popular brands.
  • This makes the 83413 suitable for many compatible Tohatsu, Mercury, Mariner, Yamaha, Suzuki, Honda, Johnson and Evinrude outboards, provided the engine uses the appropriate standard tilt-tube steering arrangement and the boat requires a 13 ft steering cable.
  • Correct fitment should be confirmed by the existing steering system, helm connection and required cable length, rather than selecting the cable by outboard brand alone.

Helm & Steering System Compatibility

  • The M66 Fast Connect cable is designed for compatible Ultraflex Fast Connect mechanical steering helms. It is also specifically compatible with SeaStar helms that use the SSC62-style steering cable.
  • For older M47 nut-to-nut systems, Sam Allen lists adapter options rather than treating M66 as a direct interchangeable cable: 83535 K66 converts M66 Fast Connect to an M47 connection, while 83536 K46 converts an M47 connection for use with an M66 Fast Connect cable.

Suitable Applications

  • Suitable for compatible aluminium fishing boats, tinnies, runabouts, fibreglass boats, centre consoles, side consoles and other mechanically steered trailer boats requiring a 13 ft cable.
  • It is particularly suitable as a replacement where an existing M66 or compatible SSC62-style 13 ft steering cable is fitted.
